As part of our ongoing community engagement we are always on the lookout for worthy causes to support. And give something back – especially in the local area.
We are celebrating a successful coffee morning in support of a cancer charity to help raise funds for continued research and improving services to patients and their families.
We hosted a coffee morning recently that raised a staggering £700 as part of the Myeloma UK Coffee Month.
The event was held in the company’s newest showroom on Church Street, Ecclesfield after owners Karl and Nikki Vigrass have felt the effects of the condition personally.
Myeloma is a form of cancer that arises from plasma cells found in bone marrow.
Nikki explains: “After two close members of our family have been affected by this form of cancer we decided that we would host an event to raise as much money as possible for the worthy cause.
“We were over the moon to see so many friends, family, customers and members of the local community come and join us to raise vital funds for such a great charity.
Local companies also supported the event by donating prizes for the coffee morning raffle. Both local football teams, Bradfield Brewery, Staindrop Lodge, Jinnah’s Indian Restaurant and Weatherspoon’s of Chapeltown.
Myeloma UK Campaigns Fundraiser, Catriona Findlay said, “We are very grateful to Direct Kitchens for getting involved and supporting our Coffee Morning Month. The generous funds they raised will go towards providing support and services to those affected by myeloma as well as funding ground-breaking research so that better treatment options can be found, in turn helping myeloma patients live longer, with better quality of life.”
